Allen-Bradley 1762-L40BWAR

The Allen-Bradley 1762-L40BWAR is a MicroLogix 1200 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). This controller has Twenty (20) standard 24VDC inputs, Four (4) Fast 24VDC inputs and Sixteen (16) relay, outputs. For communication, it has an embedded 8-pin mini-DIN communication port supporting DF1, DH-485, ASCII, MODBUS protocols and a programming port located on the left side of the controller. This controller is powered by an external 100-240VAC supply voltage range.

The 1762-L40BWAR is a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) from Allen-Bradley. This controller is a MicroLogix 1200 controller that is ideally used for implementing micro and small automation requirements.

The 1762-L40BWAR primarily features Two (2) communication interface, located on the controller’s front panel and left side. Both communication ports are 8-pin mini-DIN circular connectors. The front panel port is the primary port that may be used for communication with programming workstations, Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. The programming port is used only for controller programming, online edits and test functions. This ports functions simultaneously which helps prevents removal of existing connection to the primary port when controller communication is needed to be established at the same time.

The 1762-L40BWAR’s embedded I/O channels include Twenty (20) standard 24VDC inputs, Four (4) Fast 24VDC inputs and Sixteen (16) relay outputs. The input channels are composed of Twenty (20) standard inputs located at input channels 4 and higher while fast inputs are located at channels 0-3.

The 1762-L40BWAR is power by an external voltage range of 100-240VAC at frequency of 47-63 Hz. It is designed to withstand inrush current ratings of 25A for 8 ms when supplied with 120VAC and 40A for 4 ms when powered by 240VAC supply. The controller’s power supply usage is 82 VA with power supply output of 600 mA at 5VDC and 500 mA at 24VDC. This controller is capable of providing sensor power with maximum of 400 mA and 400 400 µF at 24VDC.

Twenty of these inputs are 24 Volts DC and the other 4 are 24 Volts fast DC. The 16 outputs are relay outputs. This module needs either 120 to 240 Volts AC to operate and the heat dissipation is 22 W. There are two amounts of inrush current. Those are 25 Amps for 8 milliseconds at 120 Volts AC and 40 Amps for 4 milliseconds at 240 Volts AC. The power supply usage of this module is 82 VA. The input circuit type of this module is 24 Volts sink or source DC power. The output circuit type of this module is relay type. The operating temperature of the 1762-L40BWAR is 0 to 55 degrees Celsius. Keep this module in an area that has a temperature -40 to 85 degrees Celsius for storage. The 1762-L40BWAR has several agency certifications including the UL 508, C-UL under CSA C22.2 no. 142, Class I, Div. 2, Groups A, B, C, D (UL 1604, C-UL under CSA C22.2 no. 213), and the CE/RCM/EAC for all applicable directives. For the 1762-L40BWAR, the COM of the sensor supply is also internally connected to chassis ground. The 24 Volts DC sensor power source should not be used to power output circuits.
