It is an encompass partner universal analog input module that features Eight (8) analog input channels configurable for Thermocouple (J, K, T, B, E, R, S, N, C), Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) (PT385/3916, Ni618/672, NiFe518, Cu426), Resistance (0-150, 0-1000, 0-3000 ohms), Current (0-20 mA, 4-20 mA), Voltage (±50 mV, ±100 mV, 0-5 V, 1-5 V, 0-10 V, ±10 V) input channels
The 1769sc-IF8U is a 3rd party module, manufactured by Spectrum Controls, an Allen-Bradley encompass partner company. This module is a universal analog input module, accepting a wide variety of analog inputs signals such as Voltage, Current, Resistance, Thermocouple, and Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD). This module is a single slot module that is DIN rail mounted, compatible with 1769 CompactLogix platform and the MicroLogix 1500 controllers.
The 1769sc-IF8U accepts 0-20 mA, 4-20 mA Current signal; ±50 mV, ±100 mV, 0-5 V, 1-5 V, 0-10 V, ±10 V Voltage signals; 0-150, 0-1000, 0-3000 ohms Resistance signals. It is also compatible for direct wiring of Thermocouple sensors type J, K, T, B, E, R, S, N, C and Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) type PT385/3916, Ni618/672, NiFe518, Cu426 sensors. Up to Eight (8) inputs signals can be accommodated by the 1769sc-IF8U, however, if used with RTD, only Four (4) channels are available.
The 1769sc-IF8U can be configured with any combination of inputs at a time. It has a resolution of 16-bits, providing high-resolution conversion and readout, update time of configurable update times of 10 Hz, 50 Hz, 60 Hz, 250 Hz, and 1000 Hz and customizable channel sample time of 2.44 ms, 0.53 ms, 0.45 ms, 0.15 ms and 0.07 ms. It comes with an input overvoltage protection of ±30 VDC continuous and input Overcurrent protection of 28 mA continuous. This module has a significantly low backplane current draw of 150 mA at 5 V maximum , 45 mA at 24 V maximum.
The four channel analog input module provides RTD or resistance input for flexible options that require mixed analog input module. To further maintain flexibility, any combination of input types can be used with this analog input module at a time. For the backplane isolation, the 1769sc-IF8U provides 500 Volts DC flowing from the channel to the backplane. The channel-to-chassis ground isolation is 500 Volts DC and channel-to-channel isolation of this device is 10 Volts DC. The 1769sc-IF8U decreases system costs by eliminating the need for multiple analog modules with a single, dedicated analog module that is able to serve all the purposes. Users do not need additional thermocouples, analog inputs, and RTD modules because the 1769sc-IF8U provides several features for a simplified solution to the user’s industrial needs. Furthermore, very low power consumption by the analog input module also contributes to lowering operational costs without compromising high-quality performance. Using the 1769sc-IF8U analog input module does not require much technical knowledge because the user interface has been designed very simply by using a common input/output module within the system. The 1769sc-IF8U is able to accurately perform fully autonomous calibrating at the highest possible accuracy level.
